She attended the 3rd Refugee Entrepreneurs Showcase in Venice to attend the competition and give an introduction to the digital makeover award for the winners.

The Home of The Human Safety Net is at Procuratie Vecchie, a large and historic building overlooking St. Mark’s Square in the heart of Venice. The Procuratie takes its name from the Procurators of Saint Mark, who, in addition to being senior city officials, were also responsible for looking after the poor and needy of the Venetian republic. Just opened to the public after more than 500 years, it features a large auditorium, an interactive exhibition space, and much more; it is a hub for social innovators passionate about empowering the most vulnerable in society worldwide. This event was the first time this space was used after being opened again.

Objective: Refugee entrepreneurs had the opportunity to pitch remotely from around the world for cash prizes and 1:1 coaching from Sarah on how to develop their digital presence for a wider international approach, showcasing new talent and innovative business ideas
Programme: The conference is part of the activities of the Refugee Entrepreneurship Network (REN). REN is a global community working to improve the scale and impact of refugee entrepreneurship programmes. It brings together practitioners, philanthropic foundations, researchers, corporates and investors.

Eight finalists were selected to pitch, out of over thirty applicants.
The judges were Yanki Tschering of Accompany Capital, Alan Barbieri of The Human Safety Net and Tim Barnes of REN.
