Sarah Carroll ran a series of one-day UKTI International Website Development & Marketing Masterclasses in 2012 and 2013 in the South East of England, kicking off in the middle of UKTI Export Week.

Grow Global have developed a national UKTI Website Optimisation Masterclass and rolled it out nationally over the past week, ready for all corners of the country to learn how to internationalise their website – or export online – during Export Week. This was an extended version of this masterclass.

These International Website Development and Marketing Masterclasses were day long events, attended by 25 delegates at each one from all sorts of small and medium-sized companies in the South East – one attendee even flew in from Edinburgh. Soon there will be international website masterclasses in Scotland too – so we can save on the air miles & get Scottish businesses exporting online as well.

In the morning, this full-day masterclass covered:

  • how to build an international e-commerce site

After lunch, we covered how to optimise a website internationally:

  • how does the international web work

  • how to optimise an international website

  • introduction to international social media

All companies went away with their top three things to do, including:

  • buying domains for Brazil

  • setting up hosting in China

  • taking another look at their SEO, in the UK domestic market in English

  • evaluating e-commerce systems so they could trade online internationally

  • adding international delivery to their websites

  • translating some web pages into other languages.
